State of Florida FRS
If you work for the state of Florida, you may be eligible for retirement benefits through the Florida Retirement System (FRS). This program offers two options – the FRS Pension Plan and the FRS Investment Plan.
With the FRS Investment Plan, you can choose how your money is invested and how you wish to receive withdrawals or income payments in the future. There is a wide variety of different funds and asset classes to choose from with this plan, so you can “customize” your investment strategy based on your specific goals, risk tolerance, and time frame until retirement.
The FRS Pension Plan provides a monthly income benefit to you when you retire. This plan provides you with a preset monthly income benefit. The amount you receive is based on your age when you retire and your earnings, position, and length of time you worked in the Florida Retirement System.
Likewise, with the FRS, there are several ways that you can invest. So, it can be beneficial to discuss your potential options with a financial advisor who is knowledgeable about this retirement system – particularly if you want to coordinate other personal savings or investments into the overall mix.
